8vo. pp 488. Teal dust jacket with colour illustration. Publisher's blue buckram lettered in gilt at spine. Inscribed by Brian Connell to Elizabeth Ward, secretary to Edwine Mountbatten during the Partition of India. Very good, with faint mark at page edge. In poor dust jacket, with numerous tears and losses, now protected in mylar sleeve.

Dust jacket chipped and creased along the edges. From the library of Douglas Fairbanks, Jr., with his bookplate, and inscribed to him by the author: For Douglas, who will find that the Georgians knew a good story when they heard it. With love from both to both / Brian / September 1954." Fairbanks (1909-2000) was an iconic American actor from Hollywood's Golden Era (his credits include "Gunga Din"), and a highly decorated naval officer of World War II.
