Margins trimmed to the border (=possibly a cut-out of a larger plateh). Mounted onto a 19th century album leaf. The name of the pope in a later manuscript in the lower left corner. Dimensions: 33 x 20 mm. Pope Eugene III was Pope, Ruler of the Papal States, Bishop of Rome, "Pietro dei Paganelli di Montemagno", The first Cistercian to become pope, Proclaimed the Second Crusade, and Beatified in 1872 by Pope Pius IX. c. 1680.
