Pages with some foxing and tanning, particularly to endpapers and textblock edges. Binding remains firm. Minor pencil inscription to preface. Boards have mild shelf wear with light rubbing and corner bumping. Some mild marking and tanning. Gilt lettering remains bright and clear.

Dust jacket in utility beige, lettered blue with a small illustration in blue. / Charles Edward Williams Reith (1886- 1957) was a Scottish police historian, best known for distilling the thought of Robert Peel into nine principles in his 1948 book A short history of the British police. He worked in Sri Lanka as a tea- and rubber- planter, where he joined the Ceylon Planters Rifle Corps and on its disbandment rose to Captain in the Indian Army Reserve of Officers Very good indeed in very good indeed dust jacket. Just jacket creased at edges. Excellent condition.
