Hardcover. Condition: VG+. 1st Edition. See photos for condition details. Hardcover with unclipped dust jacket still has the original price of $4.95 at the bottom of the front flap. DJ shows scuffing and spotting along with edge and corner bumps/wear. Spotting is also present on the edges of both front and rear flap. The tan and black boards underneath are still clean and have sharp corners. The only issue being some extremely light toning along the edges of the boards. The internal binding is good and text pages are tight and clean. There is some light spotting/foxing on both the front and rear end pages and pastedowns which is likely from reacting with the dust jacket paper over the many decades. The only handwriting found in the book is on the corner of the front end page. This is written in pencil and then be easily erased if desired. There is also a small corner fold at the rear end page, lower left. The copyright page states first printing. We acquired a large collection of chess books over 40 years ago, most of which were kept packed away until the time of this listing - which is why the condition is like a newer book.
