First edition thus. 8vo. xix, (i), 291, (1) pp. Publisher's black cloth, gilt lettered to the spine, dust jacket, price clipped, inscribed "To E.L. [Elisabeth Lutyens] 65th birthday. July 9th Love Conrad" - Lutyens' son, some pencilled annotations on p.189 one of which is initialled "EL". A little light edge wear to the jacket, slight sunning to the spine and yellowing to the white rear panel, else very good. Conrad was the son of the English composer Elisabeth Lutyens and her second husband, the conductor Edward Clark. Lutyens, Clark and Thomas were friends and the poet briefly lodged with the couple, apparently sharing their bohemian and hedonistic tastes. Lutyens would later set several of Thomas' poems to music and also dedicated a piece for clarinet and piano, "Valediction" (1953-54), to his memory.
