37x45 cm. Manuscript map in black ink of Brown's Neck, Rye Point in Rye, New York. Previously folded, very good condition, short tears along previous folds mended. The map was written on the verso of an unused printed legal form from the 1820's which was trimmed at the left side. The area shown on this map is the end of what is now known as Milton Point, roughly from Van Wagenen Ave. to the end. Currently located there are the American Yacht Club, the Coveleigh Club, the Shenorock Shore Club and private houses. The map shows the line of beach, the Scotch Caps rocks off of the tip, the John Jay property on the other side of Milton Harbor, and the names of several property owners. The property shown is being divided into 5 lots of 11 to 19 acres each, with lot lines and boundaries shown. The map is dated from a reference at the lower left to the Trinity Building at 111 Broadway in New York. That building was erected in 1852. An interesting plat map of a clearly identifiable neighborhood on Long Island Sound.
