B/w illustrations by John Leech. Pictorial blue boards, spine titled in gilt. Spine faded and frayed, hinges tender. Slight foxing, some wear and use. A good reading copy only. This is the seventh in R.S. Surtees' nine-novel series of fox-hunting novels. This particular edition has handsome, illustrated boards. Leech's illustrations are all present, but apart from the colour frontispiece, the plates are all reproduced in black and white. Surtees lampoons the marriage market and innumerable dubious characters of his aquaintance. .

Boards bumped and rubbed to corners and wear visible to top and bottom of spine. Spine dulled. Dark green end-papers, with previous owners name to half title page.The frontispiece is hand coloured with no tissue guard. There is some foxing throughout. 398 pp. plus 6pp. publishers advertisements to rear. Binding a little loose.

Attractive six volume set of Surtees' sporting novels, uniformly bound in bright royal blue pictorial cloth printed in gilt, red, black and tan, top edges gilt, each volume with a color frontis and title page, 104 black and white plates through the set. Very good condition with some modest wear, mainly rubbing to the corners and spine ends, lower front corner of Hawbuck Range and lower rear corner of Handley Cross lightly bumped, good hinges, sound text blocks, clean pages, no names or other markings. Hard Cover. Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.

Six matching volumes in royal blue cloth with repeated horse rider / horseshoe decoration to front board; spine titles and decoration still bright; unmarked but for small name stamp to front endpapers; generally tight with occasional "stretching"; stain to lower edge of "Hounds". "Jorrocks jaunts' from a writer William Morris compared favourably to Dickens and whom Thackeray envied for his powers of observation.
