This is the seventh in R.S. Surtees' nine-novel series of fox-hunting novels. This particular edition has handsome, illustrated boards. Leech's illustrations are all present, but apart from the colour frontispiece, the plates are all reproduced in black and white. Surtees lampoons the marriage market and innumerable dubious characters of his aquaintance. .

Very good condition with some modest wear, mainly rubbing to the corners and spine ends, lower front corner of Hawbuck Range and lower rear corner of Handley Cross lightly bumped, good hinges, sound text blocks, clean pages, no names or other markings. "Jorrocks jaunts' from a writer William Morris compared favourably to Dickens and whom Thackeray envied for his powers of observation.
