Ex library copy with remains of paper label on back panel of unclipped dustwrapper, paper label has been, also a mark at bottom end of spine of same where a smaller number label has been removed. Minor creasing to edges and small tears to folds of unclipped dustwrapper, some bumping to spine ends and corners of black boards. Remains of paper label on f/ep, ink stamps on f/ep, title page and rev, some yellowing to the pages, but otherwise a not too bad copy. A partly novelised account of the mutiny by convicts on the brig Cyprus off Van Diemen's Land (now Tasmania) in 1829. Nineteen convicts took the ship, sailing to the Pacific islands, then Japan (the first ship from Australia to do so), then to Canton where they scuttled the ship. 205pp Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Original publisher's boards - silver embossed to the spine. The head and tail of the spine is bumped with some light associated creasing to the wrapper. Upper fore-edge dyed red. Lower rear board corner lightly bumped. Some fading to the spine of the wrapper, which has not been price-clipped. No inscriptions. A lovely, clean, tight fresh copy.
