Condition: Good. No Jacket. Good ; No jacket. 1901 Grosset & Dunlap. No additional printings listed. Hardcover has brick red buckram cloth-covered boards with white spine and cover lettering and a stamped oval illustration of three trees in black, white, and red. Black and white illustrations by Albert D. Blashfield. 230 pages. NOT ex-library. Rear hinge cracked, webbing showing, intact. Front hinge has a small split in the paper only. Binding getting loose in a few places in the text, with webbing peeking at page group divisions. Covers have edge wear and surface rubbing affecting all edges. Corners and spine ends bumped and rubbed, with some fraying at tips and spine ends. Name in ink on front free endpaper. Additional ownership notation on the rear endpaper. Pages lightly and uniformly tanned but still supple. A few pages have some small light brown spots, usually in the margin. Dust jacket is missing. Carefully packed, shipped in a box.

Rubbing to all edges. Previous owner gift inscription from Christmas, 1912. Tipped-in newspaper clipping showing the dust jacket artwork is neatly adhered to the second endpaper leaving a darkened impression on the page. Text is otherwise clean and bright, no marks. Wonderfully decorated by Albert D. Blashfield. A "deliciously improbable" novel which follows two modern-day Robinson Crusoes, Patrick Boyd and Elinor Marshall, who find themselves stranded on the remote and mysterious Canadian island Lory. The landscape is studded with majestic pine trees. What starts with a shipwreck quickly transitions into a lighthearted, enchanting tale of love and adventure. Mitchell, was the founder of Life Magazine.
