Age-dulled beige/light plum-coloured hardback with light/moderate surface marks and lightly browned spine which is also colour-faded. Browned cream title-plate to spine giving volume number etc. Some wear to spine-ends and boards' corner's tips. Browning and spotting to title page/end-papers, tissue guard of which is missing (?) and some light browning and spotting to preliminary pages. Page-edges browned and rough-cut otherwise page clean. Wear is in line of the age of the book.

Condition: Fair. 1893. The Border Edition. 321 pages. No dust jacket. Red cloth with gilt decoration and lettering. Volume III. Rough cut pages are moderately tanned and thumbed at the edges, creased corners and foxing. Binding has remained firm. Boards are a little rub worn, slight shelf wear to corners, spine and edges. Corners are a little bumped. Spine ends are mildly crushed. Tanning to spine and edges. Boards are bowed. Book has a forward lean. Water marks to boards and spine.

Cloth. Condition: Good. No Jacket. Blue cloth binding with gilt print and design on the front cover and spine. Gilt on the top page edging. There is a name label on the inside front cover and a name printed on the front end paper. There is very light rubbing on the spine ends. The hinges are beginning to crack, however they are still solid. Waverley Novels. Illustrated Cabinet Edition. Illustrated with a frontispiece and 3 plates.
