Add to basketHardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. 1st Edition. First New Zealand edition, fist impression. First published in the UK in 1944, this is a first New Zealand edition first impression of 1945. Some edge wear, creasing and chipping to top and bottom of jacket and spine, small loss to top and bottom of spine…, corners rubbed and bruised with small loss, some slight yellowing and spotting to page block and back jacket, not price clipped (9s), faint bookseller's stamp (Thomas Adams bookseller Gisborne) to bottom ffep, internally clean tight and square, overall a vg copy for its age. 236pp. The receptionist told Perry Mason there were two men waiting in the outer office, one of them looked like a prosperous banker, the other a tramp. One wanted to see him about some corporation law, and the other had a damage claim. It turned out it was the tramp who wanted to see him about corporation law. And that, in turn, merged into the mystery of one of the famous Lost Mines of the desert region of Southern California, a fabulously rich gold deposit, discovered more than half a century ago, then lost, and lying untouched year after year, waiting only for chance and the ingenuity of Perry Mason to bring it back into the limelight Erle Stanley Gardner (1889-1970), was an American lawyer and author. He is best known for the Perry Mason (played by Raymond Burr in the long running tv series between 1957-66) detective stories, but he wrote numerous other novels and shorter pieces and also a series of nonfiction books, mostly narrations of his travels through Baja California and other regions in Mexico. Quite a scarce book.
