Thought has no place whatsoever to play in psyche. The contents of consciousness are formed because of thought. They must be emptied of mind urgently through silent perception. Silent mind is a living mind. Mind that is filled with thought matter is a dead mind. So in self-inquiry we understand the role of dead past and so it is never allowed to interfere in the investigation of "active present" and so past is kept where it should be and make mind alive, still and sensitive again.
