Add to basketh/c + d/j, Foreword by Air Vice-Marshall DCT Bennett, 20x14 cms, 287 pages, Illustrated, d/j has foxing and rips and tears to spine, previous owners inscription on inside cover, foxing to ledges and end papers. In the Air Cadets Headquarters at St Edward's School, Oxford, there are the portraits of six great airmen, who were educated at the school; Guy Gibson, Douglas Bader, Adrian Warburton, Heyworth and Leathart; the sixth is not so widely know: Alec Cranswick. He was one of the Path Finder Force and it is to him that Air Vice Marshal Bennett, Path Finder Force's founder and sole chief, dedicated his autobiography. Cranswick never sought glory nor high command, but to members of the Royal Air Force his place among the great aviators is secured for ever.
