Howe, Book Plates, 11133). Titel mit kleinem altem Besitzvermerk unten und im weissen Rand oben mit dem des dritten Earl of Ilchester Henry Fox-Strangways (1787-1858). " - Papierbedingt etwas gebräunt, Einband geblichen, wenig berieben, eine Ecke bestossen, dennoch dekorativ.

Pocket edition of the works of Latin poet Claudian (CE 370-404), a native speaker of Greek from Alexandria, who eventually became a court poet in Rome. Contemporary vellum with marbled green thread - also a characteristic of the 1620 Blaeu edition (Rahir no. 1818). Vellum shows light soiling, with faded hand-inked titling to the spine. Slight spine twist. Binding sound. Bound without paste-downs and endpapers, with visible turn-ins. 1/2in of the top edge of the blank leaf before the title page has been cleanly torn away. Copperplate engraved title leaf. Interior age-toned, free of marks. 2in x 4in. (BP-033).
