Add to basketHardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. First Edition. New edition, as stated on the printer's page - being the eleventh impression of the true first edition, published in November 1953 (the book was first published in September 1939). This edition is still produced in the same format as the original edition, with dustwrapper drawing and design by the author. ***Near fine in yellow cloth-covered boards with red titles to the spine and humorous illustration in colour to the front board. The titles and decoration are nice and bright and the boards are beautifully clean, having been protected by the dustwrapper. No bumps, creases or tears to the cloth. The cloth of the spine is not torn and is beautifully clean and bright. No reading lean to the binding. Spine tight. Internally, the book is also near fine, with no ownership markings and clean pages. Their is just some very light offsetting to the endpapers, but no foxing or marks to the printed pages. ***In a near fine original colour printed dustwrapper, that has not been price-clipped, retaining the original publisher's price of 7s 6d net. The dustwrapper is complete, with virtually no faults - just the lightest rubbing to the edges, and some light handling marks to the pale yellow colour, mainly on the back panel. The dustwrapper presents very well. (please see scans) ***46 pages. 220mm x 165mm. ***Contents: The Naming of Cats, The Old Gumbie Cat, Growltiger's Last Stand, The Rum Tum Tugger, The Song of the Jellicles, Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer, Old Deuteronomy, The Pekes and the Pollicles, Mr. Mistoffelees, Macavity: the Mystery Cat, Gus: the Theatre Cat, Bustopher Jones: the Cat about Town, Skimbleshanks: the Railway Cat, The Ad-dressing of Cats. ***"They are irresistible, impossible and magnificent." - Books of Today. ***An eleventh impression of the true first edition, also stated as a New Edition, published in 1953, in its original dustwrapper. A beautiful copy of this famous work by T. S. Eliot in near fine condition, and very unusual thus. ***For all our books, postage is charged at cost, allowing for packaging: any shipping rates indicated on ABE are an average only: we will reduce the P & P charge where appropriate - please contact us for postal rates for heavier books and sets etc.
