Some minor staining to lower edges of the cover, else a near fine copy in grey cloth with brown illustration of a whale to the front cover; in a near fine illustrated dust jacket. A volume in the American Customs Series. Mitchell describes the Cape Cod region, which Thoreau called, "the bare and bended arm of Massachusetts," with the sea, the salt air, the dunes, the part-time residents, and the traditions.

Heavily worn around the edges with chips and tears, and a small stain on the front flap. Smudged on the back of the jacket. NPC. SCARCE. VG+/G-. Book.
