Boards have wear present to the extremities of the boards (corners and extremities bumped and rubbed; stain present to the rear board) Previous owner's note stating that this copy had been signed at the first US performance of this opera (First Presentation in America with the Harvard Glee Club at the Boston Symphony Orchestra on 2/24/1928 & 2/25/1928). Stamp of Schirmer music present to the FFEP and the titel page. Text is clean and free of marks. Binding tight and solid. Oedipus rex is an "Opera-oratorio after Sophocles" by Igor Stravinsky, scored for orchestra, speaker, soloists, and male chorus. The libretto, based on Sophocles's tragedy, was written by Jean Cocteau in French and then translated by Abbé Jean Daniélou into Latin; the narration, however, is performed in the language of the audience.
