Der als Gesellschaftskritischer und der Aufklärung verpflichteter Autor liess ein Jahr nach Erscheinen der ersten französischen Ausgabe vorliegendes Werk in Zürich drucken, wohl angeregt durch die Beachtung der damaligen Gelehrten der "Helvetischen Gesellschaft". - Gabriel Bonnot de Mably (1709-1785) Gabriel Bonnot de Mably, der ältere Bruder von Condillac, versuchte in seinen Werken Wege zu einer besseren Gesellschaft aufzuzeigen. Mably verneinte die Revolution als Mittel zur Verbesserung der Gesellschaft. Er schlug Reformen und moralisierende Einsichten nach dem Vorbild der Antike vor, um diese Ziele zu erreichen Rücken stärker beschabt, innen leicht stockfleckig, anfangs mit kl. Wasserrand, unbeschnitten und mit Eckknitter. Im ganzen gutes Exemplar.
