"During his seminary years Talbot started the Madison Street Church in Oak Park, Illinois. Then Talbot took pastorates in Presbyterian churches at Keokuk, Iowa (19211925) , and Minneapolis, Minnesota (19251929). In 1929 he was called to the Philpott Tabernacle in Hamilton, Ontario (See Philpott, Peter W. ). From 1932 to 1948 he was pastor of the Church of the Open Door and president of the Bible Institute of Los Angeles (19321952). At that time both institutions were on one location at the corner of Hope and Sixth Streets in Los Angeles. Talbot rescued the work from bankruptcy in 1938 through a radio fund drive. After 1953 he served as chancellor of Biola College (now Biola University) and the board named the newly founded Talbot Seminary in his honor." (from the Encycl. Dict. Of Bible and Theology).

Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. Update: Corrected typos The importance of presenting the Gospel message in terms which the little child can understand is inestimable. During His earthly ministry, our Lord Jesus Christ recognized this need for simplicity, and constantly taught the people spiritual lessons through reference to objects with which they were most familiar. The wise pastor today must be ever on the alert to employ this method in presenting the truth to the children of his congregation. Since fully eighty-five per cent of our knowledge is acquired through the eye-gate, this avenue of approach should be more widely utilized than is generally the case. As a part of the morning service each Lord's day, in the Church of the Open Door, Los Angeles, California, the pastor, Rev. Louis T. Talbot, gives an object lesson for children, presenting vital spiritual truths applicable to young and old alike. To meet the demand of many who know of this plan, and in order to furnish practical examples for those desiring to follow this method, Mr. Talbot is making available much of the material which he has recently used. It gives me great pleasure to write this note of commendation of the illuminating and appealing lessons which have been used with such benefit in the services of the Church of the Open Door. I, for one, rejoice greatly that this suggestive material is now accessible to all those who seek to utilize the object lesson method in leading the children into a deeper interest in the things of God. Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. A mirror has one job and that is to reflect. Whatever image is placed in front of it, that is what the mirror will shine back to you. Did you ever think that our main job in life is just to do that very thing, to reflect the love of God and to show forth Him Who is the light of the world? Sometimes small boys get a mirror and catch the sun in it and flash it in folks' eyes. This is not very good for the eyes, but if we, as living mirrors, would adjust ourselves to catch the rays of God's well beloved Son and then shine them into folks' hearts, we would be doing a great work!
