Il Museo fu fondato da Girolamo Corraro e poi arricchito dal genero Ermolao Pisani che pubblicò in questo libro una parte della collezione: una copia del volume fu data in dono all'Abate cassinese Alberto Mazzoleni il quale nel 1740 lo fece ristampare nella sua stamperia in Bergamo. Non recando la data di stampa sicuramente questo volume è quindi precedente a quello del Mazzoleni, con il quale talvolta si confonde, e certamente più raro.
