Front endpaper missing and possibly a page after the illustrations list (not sure about this.). Light crinkling of contents to lower margins. Light page browning. Packaged with care and promptly dispatched!

THE FABER REISSUES (March/April 1939) Shortly before the publication of Gloucestershire, Faber took on the Shell Guides and republished the existing titles using a spiral binding for the text but bound in cream boards with red, blue or black printing to the spine. These reissues are very scarce. Print runs are unknown. Light grey hardback cloth cover with internal spiral binding.

Hard Cover. Dust Jacket Condition: Dust Jacket. First UK Edition Thus. Four page colour map at the front of the book. Inside there are eight plates on cornflower blue paper and numerous black and white photographs. Publisher's plain white cloth covers with white lettering on black background on the spine. Photographic-style D/W priced 3s 6d net to the inside flap (as called for). The book is bound internally with a metal spiral hinge which is a bit rusted. Decorated end-papers of Newcastle-upon-Tyne showing the seat of the Honourable Sir William Blackett, Baronet. Errata leaf bound in. A bookseller's ticket to the front paste-down and a touch of discolouration to the edges of the boards, overall a VG or slightly better copy. The D/W has a touch of wear at the spine tips and a couple of short closed tears (with associated creases) to the rear panel. There is a small chip in the D/W at the top right hand corner of the inside flap. Overall the D/W is also VG indeed. Surprisingly uncommon this is widely perceived as the Best Edition of this Shell Guide. Uncommon.
