This does not affect the dustjacket in any way, as all taping is done on the outside of the protector.

Hardcover with dust jacket.  Blue boards lightly soiled and shelfworn with edges worn, to boards at one point along top edge. Edge points are sharp and page edges foxed. Internally, end pages age toned with author inscription to 1st free endpage, signed and dated. Some foxing is scattered throughout, usually adjacent to plates. The binding is tight with hinges intact. The dustjacket is lightly soiled and shelfworn with wear along edges (including several small chips/tears) and  folds. It is not price clipped. . Condition: Very Good. First Edition. 318 pp. Octavo. Original light blue cloth with original dark blue lettering. Illustrated with plates from photos (including frontispiece) and maps. Original printed decorative dust wrapper. Slight abrasion but over all a great copy. This is Balchen's autobiography. Balchen was a very experienced dog driver and advocated the use of dogs for northern travel. He was also a very accomplished artist. This copy has a long personal inscription to Christian Davidson dated July 28th 1958. Scarce in a nice wrapper and more so with a great inscription.
