About the book >.>.> The book Erte at Ninety: The Complete Graphics Book offers a comprehensive exploration of the remarkable career of Erté, a pivotal figure in the development of the Art Deco aesthetic in the twentieth century. Marking both his ninetieth birthday and seventy years of professional success, this volume reflects a diverse and prolific body of work spanning multiple visual arts. Known for his contributions to stage design, costume creation for illustrious productions such as the Folies Bergère and George White's Scandals, and Hollywood films, Erté has also shaped the iconic elegance associated with Harper's Bazaar during the 1920s and 30s.This book features full-colour reproductions of all 208 graphics completed by Erté at the time of publication, many of which are being presented to the public for the first time. Alongside these stunning prints, the artist has penned an insightful essay discussing his creative process, career milestones, and notable encounters throughout his life. This personal narrative adds depth to the visual elements, while the text also includes a selection of Erté?s elegant writings for Harper's Bazaar, recognising the significant impact of his covers on the magazine?s identity.Additionally, a preface by Jack Solomon, Erté?s printer and publisher, provides context for the artist's standing in the realm of fine art graphics. The book concludes with a detailed chronology that chronicles key events in Erté's career and a full index of works, complete with technical data. Erte at Ninety is a significant compilation that celebrates the legacy and continued influence of this extraordinary artist.
