Green binding with most ornate attractive design & titles to front in gilt, black & light green with some impressing, designs are all very slightly rubbed, wear with one 1cm split & some rubbing to spine-ends, light wear to corners, owner's name dated 1912 & label to pictorial end-papers. Paper cracks to inner hinges, inner front hinge is stuck with TAPE. Page-edges are yellowed with some foxing which has also spread to a few margins of text. Text is very clean. Very attractive b/w plates. Very nice condition.

Illustrated by Paul Bransom, with thirteen full page plates of animals. Charles GD Roberts was one of those who contributed to the independent standing of Canadian literature. His animal stories were written while in New York, and were marked by his gift for detailed observation. 8 3/8 x 6 1/8 inches. Boards have heavy shelf wear with bumping and fraying to corners and crushing and fraying to spine ends. All surfaces heavily tanned, particularly spine. Gilt lettering to spine is slightly dulled. Some additional marks and staining. Boards are slightly bowed. Unclipped jacket has heavy edge wear with large tears, chipping and creasing. Spine noticeably sunned.
