Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book takes readers on a journey to a fascinating corner of the world: the Bechuanaland Protectorate in South Africa. It's a vivid portrait of the Bechuana people, their customs, and their daily lives, offering a glimpse into a world largely untouched by the forces of European colonialism. The author, an astute observer, uses rich detail and evocative language to paint a picture of the region's landscape, from the monotonous plains to the striking kopjes. He explores the fascinating structure of Bechuana society, their system of governance under tribal chiefs, and the fascinating nuances of their social hierarchy. The book delves into the unique aspects of Bechuana daily life, particularly their practices of agriculture and animal husbandry, and how these activities shaped the rhythm of their lives. The author also meticulously documents the arrival of Christianity in the region and the profound impact it has had on their culture, beliefs, and way of life. The book provides a glimpse into a rapidly changing world, where ancient traditions collide with the burgeoning influence of European culture, ultimately offering a compelling testament to the enduring strength of the Bechuana people in the face of immense change. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
