Preface by E.W.Bell giving a touching account of the origin of the book- written by the author at the age of Ten having previously had a few of her verses published in the autumn of 1914 for the Belgian Relief Fund. First Edition 1st printing 1916. Fair(Book - Moderate to heavy shelf wear to boards with some general shelf soiling. Front end paper cracked- tapes and mull holding. Faded ink gift insc. and date Oct 1916 to free front end paper. Moderate foxing and browning to prelims and last few pages.War economy paper a little evenly tanned. 3 of the 9 chapter vignettes have been neatly water coloured).
