Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Green circular volvelle set on p.[3] of a linen-backed board folder. Printed in black and white. Completely incomprehensible, but great fun, you could use it for fortune telling. A very good copy. HOW TO USE THE INDICATOR: Find the factor of the type face to be used; place indicator on iside scale to correspond with factor on outside scale; the number of characters in a line will then be indicated against the required measure. Example: Type face to be used is Baskerville, Series 169, 10 pt roman, set to 20 ems of pica, Factor for Baskerville, 10 ptpt roman =.375, Number of lc characters in a line=53.3. Pictorial Laminated Board. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. A very good copy, for its age , of this "device to find the factor of the type face to be used". In fold out book format, with cloth spine, it consists only of front laminated board cover and laminated rotating calculator, with laminated alphabetic index on rear. Laminated boards are all cream coloured with black lettering to front, rear and throughout, with the addition of red lettering in inside front cover where there is a list of factors; rotating calculator is bright green, with black lettering. Generally in very clean and bright condition, although cream coloured outer boards have darkened with age and there is some shelf wear to all edges, commensurate with age and use. Undated but previous owners, small, very neat signature to front cover is dated 10.4.53.
