The author, an eyewitness to the unfolding tragedy, paints a vivid portrait of the resilience and spirit of the Belgian people as they faced immeasurable loss and unimaginable suffering. This book is a sobering reminder of the human cost of war and a testament to the indomitable spirit of those who endure its horrors.
