Book condition very good, corners rubbed and bumped, head and tail of spine rubbed and chipped, spine very slightly faded, offsetting to end-papers, the pages and plates are very clean throughout. Dust jacket condition very good, corners rubbed, spine ends rubbed and chipped, 1x1cm tear with loss to upper edge of front panel, 6 tiny tears without loss to top edge of front end rear panels, has not been clipped. An attractive 1920's art deco style new edition of Defoe's classic. Finely illustrated by John Austen with monochrome plates, chapter headings, endpapers, cover design and other decorations. Size: 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.

It retains two paper labels, which are toned and mildly worn. ; Large 8vo 9" - 10" tall.

Illustrated endpapers with drawings by the illustrator of the book, John Austen. Book is tight, square, sharp-cornered and free of flaws and markings inside and out - Near Fine. Black kraft paper Dust jacket has same design as boards in aquamarine. Fantastic copy. Complete with the original slipcase, which has both the front and bottom pasted on pictorial title labels to it. Still tight but does have a crack down the spine of the slipcase and some moderate damage to the top. With 16 plates and many decorations.
