Hardcover. Condition: Good. 1st Edition. This is Harriette Bower's remarkable Third Series of interviews with distinguished concert pianists of the early years of the 20th century - 32 in all - this copy coming from the personal library of pianist-composer Israel Citkowitz, whom Aaron Copland referred to as "my first composition student". CONTENTS: Please see my accompanying scan images of the Table of Contents and List of [16] Illustrations. 303 pages. CONDITION: This hundred-year-old GOOD-condition book remains securely bound, its covers however showing noticeable edge- and corner-wear plus a hint of spine-lean. The gilt titling on its front panel is still vivid, though no longer visible on the spine. Interior markings: Citkowitz's signature and Carnegie Hall address on the front free endpaper; around a dozen pages with passage bracketing in the margins; Citkowitz's annotations on the rear paste-down. (A few page-bottoms have chipped edges.) Originally issued without a dust jacket, I've fashioned a FINE replacement copy with titling on the spine and front panel - now nestled in a clear mylar protective cover. This remains a quite respectable and unique copy.
