MODELS OF PROPRIETY Occasional Caprices for the Edification of Ladies and the Delight of Gentlemen. W Russell Flint. Michael Joseph, London 195176pp Illustrated Hardback. This copy is in in near fine condition bound in pink linen covered boards with gilt titling and decoration to the front and the spine. There is a short damp mark to the front paste down and f.e.p. but this does not penetrate into the text block. The unclipped dust wrapper has some minor edge wear and has now been covered in clear, removable protective film. Here is the great artist with his tongue very firmly in his cheek as evidenced by the books dedication to 'All virtuous young ladies who pose unadorned for honest artists' To his short preface 'This is a paradoxical book. None of the statements are true. None of the people are real, Yet all the ladies are drawn from life' The drawings are of course breath taking examples of the artist's draughtsmanship. Ref J6.
