Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. Originally published almost a 100 years ago, the books flatsigned by the author on the front end page anddated 28-4-29. The famed British Ornithologist and author of several books on Indian birds had spent 20 years in the most remote part of North eastern jungles where wildlife was abundant and he took full advantage of it bagging big game including baffalo, wild boar, Gaur and of course the Tiger. Mishi the Man eating tiger was a real animal. The author relates the first two chapters as the tiger himself telling the story as to how he developed an interest in killing the easiest prey, the man. But the author started tracking and finally killing the man eater in Chapter 3 as well as hunting other big game. He lived among the head hunters- the Nagas- and learned to speak their language and gained their trust.illustrated with 4 plates by W.Woodhouse. The book is in the original bright red cloth binding in very good shape (see pics) A sought after volume. Signed by Author(s).
