The top pages and ornate design on the front cover and spine are gilded. The glassine over the illustrations at the front of the book is in great shape. The cover is a beautiful deep Mauve color and what I believe is bonded leather. The covers do show heavy signs of age and some wear on the corners and ends, as well as some scuffs on the surface as shown. Hardcover. Previous owner's name on inside front of Vol. I as shown.
