Dust jacket in glossy white, lettered Brown with an abstract illustration of miscellaneous objects. Black and white cartoon drawings illustrate the text. Very good indeed in minus very good dust jacket. Dust jacket a little used, tanned and slightly discoloured.

Review copy. 1/50 "Review Copies" identified as such with an ink annotation to the rear pastedown, in ball-point pen; bound in plain light grey buckram, without titling or dustwrapper. Laid in is the hand-typed TLS Review Copy letter from Deborah Benson of the Press, dated May 31, 1958. 241pp. The contents are the same as the regular trade edition which followed, but (as noted) in a different binding from the medium blue buckram stamped in silver (with unprinted plain dustwrapper). Extremely scarce in this state. With frontis photo of Cummings by Marian Morehouse. A Fine copy. Q08320.

Tanning to the jacket spine, occasional soiling elsewhere, otherwise very good. The first Miscellany was published in 1958 by the Argophile Press bringing together epigrams, essays and plays. This revision "includes all of the original, and a good deal more - the complete text of the book without a title, with its eight line drawings; several hitherto unpublished drawings, including a self portrait; and Mr. Cummings' translation of Louis Aragon's poem, "The Red Front", with the French original (banned until very recently) en face.".
