Andrea Iannone (born 9 August 1989 in Vasto, Province of Chieti) is an Italian Grand Prix motorcycle road racer who currently competes in the Moto2 world championship, for the Italian Speed Master Team. He started on pocket bikes and became a championship front runner. He participated on the Italian and Spanish championships before moving to World Championship in 2005. On 4 May 2008 he claimed his first win at Shanghai in China under wet conditions. In 2009 he won the first two races, establishing himself as a championship contender, however he faded to seventh overall, with only one more win. Pocket Bikeracing, also known as Minimoto or Mini GP racing, is a category ofracing where miniature racing motorcycles (known as pocket bikes or minimoto) are raced around kart tracks. It is a popular sport in Japan andEurope and is gaining in popularity in other parts of the world. Atypical minimoto is approximately one-fourth the size of a regularmotorcycle, and is powered by a two-stroke internal combustion engine ofbetween 40-50 cc producing somewhere between 2.4 and 17 hp (1.8 and 11kW). The machines have no suspension, relying on the tires to absorbbumps and handle cornering, and weigh approximately 50 lb (23 kg). Theentry-level models produce about 2.4-4.2 hp, but the more expensiveracing models can have a power output of about 11-17 hp. This provides apower-to-weight ratio favorable to racing. Despite their tiny size bothadults and children race them at speeds of up to 78 mph (126 km/h) inorganized racing leagues.…

A minibike, sometimes called a mini moto or pocketbike, is a miniature motorcycle. Most traditional minibikes use a two stroke engine to turn the rear wheel via a cha Like go-karts, the first minibikes were made by enthusiasts from spare parts found in their garages. They were first popularly used as 'pit bikes', for drag racers to travel around in the pits during races in the late 1950s. They were very useful for this purpose, as they could maneuver very well in the tight pit roads, fit in about the same space as a small bicycle in a trailer or pickup, and they were faster than most previous forms of transportation. As racers brought them home and used them around their neighborhoods, many children liked the idea of having a 'mini motorcycle' and started building their own.…
