Boards well rubbed and stained with worn corners; losses to spine. Text block edges with faded writing. Pencil writing on initial leaves and rear endpapers; bottom fifth of rear free endpaper missing. Bookseller ink…stamp at top of front pastedown but unfortunately obscured by publisher advertising - "Bookseller, Stationer | [illegible] | Florence, Ala. | Edgar James, | [illegible] | [illegible] Books, Stationery, Newspapers | and Periodicals. | Florence, Alabama" (according to an obituary Edgar James, 1859-1937, operated a book and music store on N. Seminary Street). Quite poor condition and sold as is and only preserved for the sake of the presence of a quite uncommon late 19th century Alabama bookseller stamp.
