Jefferys's copy with his signature on the free fly. - McLean served the Hudson's Bay Company in the Ottawa valley, the Northwest, on the Pacific coast, Hudson Bay an…d in the Labrador between 1821 and 1845. He was the first white man to traverse the entire Labrador Peninsula, and in so doing he discovered the Grand Falls of the Northwest River. His narrative "one of the classics of wilderness travel", is also an authentic record of the H.B.C. activities after its union with the Northwest Company.
