Map
No Binding. Condition: Very Good. Colour map with 2 insets dissected in 32 linen backed sections 85 x 72cm. Very good with some foxing. This is overprinted with a grid, but is undated with no mapmaker, publisher, key, or scale indicated. I have identified it as War Office 1933, on a scale of 2 inches to 1 mile from another copy part of which is pictured on the Malta RAMC website. It was issued to a British Artillery officer based at the Royal Malta Artillery HQ in Valletta in 1944. Based on other institutional holdings, this copy may thus have been revised and reprinted by 512 Fd. Survey Coy., R.E. in 1943. This is Sheet 2 of 2, showing Malta (Sheet 1 showed Gozo). It shows settlements, and numerous military installations, relief by contours and spot heights, and depths by bathymetric isolines. The insets are "Key Map of Malta and Gozo 1:253,440 or 1/4 inch to 1 mile", showing the configuration of the 2 sheets; and the Island of Filfla.
