Limited edition facsimile of an original manuscript map drawn by Nicholas King in 1805 recording Lewis and Clark's discoveries in the west. The original is held as one of the treasures of the Boston Aethenaeum and the present facsimile was produced to coincide with the 200th anniversary of the expedition. The fold-out facsimile map consists of 28 rectangular panels, each being a high-quality color reproduction of one segment of the original map, the whole laid down on a canvas backing, as issued. The text comprises an itinerary of the expedition. Publisher's chemise and slipcase, with title label Large folding map. With 8pp. text laid in. Approx. 40-1/2 x 28-3/4 inches unfolded.
