It traces the general evolution of the permanent and reserve elements of the army from the 1890s to the conflict in Afghanistan. The greatest contribution of this work is its discussion of the formation of the Canadian Corps artillery in 1915-1916, coastal defence between 1939 and 1945, and in particular, the detailed discussion of events after 1945, including the Cold War, the Balkans, and Afghanistan. An excellent copy.

Signed in a faded hand by James Worgan to the lower front corner of the title-page. Broderip & Wilkinson, 13 Haymarket, London traded from 1799-1808. The LOYAL ESSEX REGIMENTwas raised in 20th October 1794 under Commander John E. Urquhart and dis-banded 1801-2. It had ten companies and served in Ireland during the rebellion. Fensibles were regiments raised in time of war usually temporary, composed of local volumteers and commanded by Regular Army Officers. A RARE ITEM. Only two copies traced. Signed by the composer.

Rare in this condition. Note tipped-in Report oN Staff Officer Major R.E.Crane who served in the 3rd Battalion Loyal North Lancs Regiment during WWI, signed by Crane and also Brig.General R.F.Johnson who has added a handwritten not very favourable to Crane and dated 4-11-16. Hardcover. Condition: G-vg. 1st Edition. Large quarto in green cloth-backed boards with regimental crest in gilt centre of upper board. This heavy volume is a little worn and shaken but, more importantly, the 33 photographs are in excellent condition. Secunderabad is twined with what was the Princely state of the Nizam (Hyderabad) and was developed by the British as a military town. The 54th Division of the Indian Army is based there. This heavy item will require an extra postal charge.

This heavy volume is a little rubbed and worn but the photographs are in very good condition. Complete with two title pages, 43pp. of text and thirty photographs mounted on card. That of the regimental signallers is loose.
