L'hippodrome de Longchamp est inauguré par NAPOLEON III en 1857. A la suite sont créés plusieurs grands prix qui en font un lieu de prestige (Grand Prix de Paris, 1863 ; Prix d'Ispahan, 1873 ; Prix… de l'Arc de Triomphe, 1920). Très vite, Longchamp devient un des hauts lieux de la mode, notamment dans l'entre-deux guerres où près de 126000 spectateurs se pressent aux grands prix. La canne, le haut de forme, le chapeau et le lorgnon sont les accessoires essentiels de ce spectacle, que portent les silhouettes de BENIGNI. Il réalise des publicités pour les marques suivantes : Rouge Baiser, RIVAL (rouge à lèvres), Mauboussin, le paquebot L'Atlantique, Frigeco, les fourrures Brunswick, les grands magasins (La Samaritaine, Le Bon Marché, La Grande Maison de Blanc, Le Louvre, Le Printemps), Ford. ; les couturiers HERMES, Jeanne LANVIN, Jacques FATH, WORTH, Jean PATOU, SCHIAPARELLI, ROCHAS, Paul POIRET, Pierre IMANS. ; il réalise des modèles pour les tissus Koechlin, les filatures Prouvost et la maison Clark's (Pages d'Or de l'édition publicitaire, p. 255).
