Add to basketFirst edition, second printing, inscribed by the author "To E. C. and Mary Louise, I enjoyed meeting you on our ride into New York City. Stay young and happy travelling, 13 Dec 1979". This highly popular memoir recounts each stage of Sumner's world-wide trek, with many photographic illustrations of him and his bicycle. Lloyd Sumner (1943-1996) was an American early computer artist and one of the first to present computer-generated images as art in their own right. He also became famous in 1975 when he completed a four-year solo bike ride around the world, augmenting the challenge by climbing the highest peak in every state and country that he visited. In 1980, he set himself the challenge of travelling the globe again but using 80 different modes of transport, in what he called "Around the World in 80 Ways". The second printing was released only five months after the first. The recipients of this copy are untraced. Octavo. Half-tone photographic illustrations in text. Original light brown morocco-grain leatherette, spine and front board gilt-lettered direct, map endpapers. With original pictorial dust jacket lettered in white. Spine ends and tips rubbed, gutter a little tender at p. 83, contents clean; jacket unclipped, creased and nicked at extremities, short closed tears and holes along fold lines: a very good copy in like jacket.…
