Large quarto, five volumes, 221, 209, 181, 183 and 251 pages with well over a thousand illustrations (many in colour) plus all 24 original lithographs (21 in colour); in addition, the dustwrappers for the first four volumes are also original colour lithographs. Cloth; the first two volumes have minimal foxing to the top edges, endpapers and plain flaps of the dustwrappers; the third volume is a little foxed and marked on the edges, with renewed endpapers, and shows minor signs of use (there is a commercial gallery bookplate on the recto of an early blank leaf); the fourth volume has minimal foxing to the top edge and endpapers, and some small ink splashes to the bottom edge; the fifth volume has a little foxing to the endpapers; overall, an excellent set with the dustwrappers in excellent condition, with a few trifling blemishes (the first one is slightly rubbed, with the spine slightly torn at the head and a little sunned; the second one is slightly rubbed, and a little bumped at the foot of the front hinge; the third one is a little rubbed, with the ends of the spine lightly discoloured (by offsetting from two small pieces of tape, now removed, once present to reinforce the ends, and to close a short tear to the head); the original transparent dustwrapper protectors are still present on all but the third volume.
