A good plus, neat hard cover edition with moderate shelf wear over all, rubbing at the corners, with slight darkening from a dampstain to the exterior spine cloth that does not affect interior; hinges and binding solid, paper moderately yellowed with some foxing to the fore-edges. In a good, edge worn dust jacket, with chipping at the edges and darkening and foxing to the back strip that is split at the front hinge (and held together in a mylar dust jacket.).

It is illustrated with four black and white photographs of the play. It consists of 202 pages followed by four pages of book ads. It appears to be a First Edition. The condition is near perfect. The pages are clean and free of marks and tears. There is a blank book plate on the fly leaf but no signatures. The binding is tight. The red cloth cover is stamped in black on the front and spine and is not faded or soiled. There is a slight rubbing of the color on the bottom left corner but the corners are sharp.

The 1918 play Lightnin', which Bacon co-wrote and starred in, set a Broadway record for the day of 1,291 performances and was still going strong on tour after more than 700 shows when Bacon was forced to bow out due to fatigue.
