John Harrison O'Donnell was a Manitoban who served as a physician, justice of the peace, provincial legislator, and academic. A member of the Legislative Council of Manitoba from 1871 to 1876 he served as the speaker of the chamber in 1875. He is best remembered as having signed the warrant for the arrest of Louis Riel when the 1870 Wolsley Expedition arrived in Manitoba to quell the Red River Resistance.
