Bright, unmarked, firm and square with little or no wear evident on either the book or the jacket. Some fading to the spine edge of the jacket. Printed in darker teal blue on cover and dust jacket front with a line drawing of a small dinghy encircled by a life saving tube. Silver printing stamped on spine of the book. Near fine condition with the lightest hint of shelfwear and superficial crease at the upper corner of the first several pages. The dust jacket is also near fine with a hint of fading on the spine panel and a small scratch on the front panel. A history of life saving on the close knit tiny island of Nantucket. Originally rescue attempts were all manned by volunteer crews from the islands, and eventually a government and then Coast Guard station opened.
