Il volume rilegato con copertina postuma si presenta in discreto stato di conservazione. Il dorso e le copertine mostrano lievi segni di usura. Le pagine interne sono ingiallite dal tempo e fruibili con fioritura. I tagli bruniti e regolari con macchioline di fioritura. La cerniera è ben salda. Numero pagine 560.

First US Edition. 19th edition of 1676 first, original full-leather cover with gilt bands on spine and gilt edge pattern, red morroco titleblock with gilt lettering, edge rubbing and 3/8 in. chip to leather at head of spine, front board cracked at gutter but still attached, missing blank end papers, po signature and doodling on front pastedown, three lectori benevolo (viii) plus long unpaginated three column textblock, age darkened paper with some sporadic foxing.

Note condition: Boards scratched and worn with front corner of board chipped off, other corners worn and chafed. Bottom two inches of outer spine chipped off and spine worn and scuffed. Spine title dulled. Binding is strong. Interior heavily foxed. Name stamp of previous owner on inside board and also name of another owner in ink along with some calligraphic printing of "Book", and the same owner boldly inked his name on the front edge. Cornelis Schrevel [1608-1661] was a physician and scholar and head of the college faculty at Leiden University. His Latin-Greek lexicon was very popular and went through many editions and translations into the 19th century.

Cornelis Schrevel (bapt. 13 April 1608 1664) was a Dutch physician and scholar, was born in Haarlem and he studied medicine at Leiden University and replaced his father Theodorus Schrevelius as head of the college faculty at Leiden in 1642. He published a Latin-Greek lexicon and edited many classical authors, including an edition of Curtius Rufus owned by Thomas Jefferson. He died in Leiden. The Lexicon ran to scores of editions in half-a-dozen languages, to the early nineteenth century; an expansion of 1663 was edited by Joseph Hill.
