First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. 1st Edition. pp: 251. Bound in red/black dust jacket over red cloth boards. The first edition with the date '1937' on the copyright page. The contents of the book are a collection of lectures given by Leacock over his career. They accurately reflect his sense of humour; his slightly satirical style, his use of adsurdity and exaggerated logic, which gently mocks social conventions. His world-wide popularity may be due to his history. He was born in England, educated in the United States, but is the most 'Canadian' writer around. This is a very good copy in a good dust jacket. The jacket is in one piece, but only just. There are long, clean tears along the front flap, and one side of the spine. There is also chipping at both ends of the spine, with a piece missing at the base, and lesser amounts of edge wear.
