After his classic work on the digestive system which won him the Nobel Prize in 1904, Pavlov planned his epoch-making experiments on salivary and gastric secretion by means of a gastric fistula. These experiments and other investigations on higher nervous activity over the next thirty-five years have had a profound impact on physiology as well as psychology. One of the key results of his work was the postulation and verification of the conditioned reflex which is reported in the present monograph. Indeed some psychologists seem nowadays to believe that behaviour is all. Pavlov's results are, indeed, clearly complementary to those of Freud and many regard them as of more fundamental significance. Like Freaud's, this was the work of one man and a completely new departure. Pavlov was awarded the Nobel Prize for Medicine in 1905" (Carter/Muir zur russ. Orig.-Ausgabe von 1897). - Rücken etwas aufgehellt, gutes Exemplar. Sprache: englisch.
