Some of the full page illustrations, The Plough, The Dragonfly and the Fox for example, are among the Tunnicliffe?s best work. Most appear to be woodcuts or possibly scratchboard or lino cuts. With a frontispiece, a title page decoration, four full-page plates, and forty-seven illustrations as head and tail pieces, and in the text. Free endpapers spotted, with a touch of further spotting to the half-title. Contemporary former owner name and date to the base of the front free endpaper. A very good copy in lightly toned and soiled non-price-clipped dust wrapper, with several small fractions of loss from the spine ends and corner tips. An account of the restoration of the author's small Devonshire farm plus reports of excursions into the surrounding areas.
